Study: male hormone enhances the brain's response to threats

A medical study showed that increased levels of the male hormone «testosterone» has a profound effect on the brain's reaction to the threats faced by human. 

The researchers conducted their research published in the latest issue of the journal Biological Psychiatry on 16 volunteers from the young people who have received doses of the male hormone «testosterone» or placebo, where they focused their research on the analysis of the reactions of brain cells with regard to addressing the threat and aggressive behavior, which are subjected to human especially in the gray areas of the thalamus. 

The analysis revealed that the male sex hormone increases interaction, especially in the area of ​​the thalamus gray when exposed angry facial expressions. 

A number of previous studies indicated that a single dose of the hormone «testosterone» masculinity affect the competitive and aggressive behavior in men, as well as their impact on the function of the brain circuit.
